I'm all about graphite seats. I have used them for just about everything and built about 100 rods with them and not had one failure. Metal/aluminum seats corrode and require more maint. Granted anything can fail but graphite has my vote. Lighter, super strong, feels better to the hand. I always use Fuji with good results so i stick with them. Never fished 130s so I'm not sure how they hold up to them, but I'd try it if I never had to fish for something that big. Fuji claims that there heavest seat can actually bend a penn 130 foot when twisting before breaking the real seat.
    What do you use?
Jigging outfits are a graphite must in my opinion.

I have an eclectic assortment of rods, fugi, aftco and stuart seats. The alum butt aftco rod #20 with an Int 20 that i have has got some beef and weight.my spinners and surf rods are all fugi and i think i prefer the fugis graphite. been using Star rods for some time but................ when i purchased the last one I got it home and found the made in china sticker so that's over! I will call you paul, for the next rods but only when fully funded and ready to go!

I use Aftco Alum butts for trolling rods and Fuji graphite for everything else. I don't really need Aluminum cuz my largest trolling reels are Penn 30's.

I like the Aluminum butts because you can break the rod down for travel without loosing strength.

I have seen graphite reel seats on stand-up Shimano Beastmasters 'stripped', when screwed up tight.
I think they were Fuji seats tho never kept one so can't confirm this.
In each case when I cut off the old seats I found the blank was not centred to the reel pipe!

These 'rods' were re-cycled into one handed tag sticks
Just removed the foregrip and rings, and cropped it down a bit.

I use Aftco Uni's on everything for myself, and Fuji long-nuts my jig rods.

I believe that the graphites are well suited for inshore style fishing. The only orders we see for offshore graphites are for white marlin rods. They want lightweight stuff. If you're putting on anything above a 25, aluminum seats all the way...
