    Quantum Cabo 80; HELP PLEASE!

hey guys, i know the quantum is no accurate or stella but for right now, its the right reel for me($200)
the one thing is that compared to my stradic its SO HEAVY! i was wondering if anyone knows or an accessory manufacturer that builds lightweight arms for the cabo line. Mine is Stainless Steel and probably weighs as much as the damn reel itself - was hoping i could get a lightweight Al or Ti one on their.

    Thanks for any info!

I don't know about the arms but I do agree that they are heavy. I have a 50 and I used it the other day (while I was fixing my smaller reel) for inshore trolling with sardines and it about broke my wrist off.

I'm not sure if any of the aftermarket companies' handles are compatible with the Cabos and Bocas. My concern would be that many of these handles/arms are going to add up to over $100 which in my mind doesn't make sense. At that point you just made your $200 reel into a $300-#350 reel. Don't take me wrong it is deffenitely something to look into.

I fished the Boca 60pts a few times and it did ok. The drag was better then my older Sustains but then I bent the spool shaft from over torgquing the reel on big fish.

No i havnt, but nothing is worse than investing in something you think is going to be quality and last you a lifetime only to find out that if i want to catch anything big i am going to have to replace it.

Regardless of how disappointed i am in build quality i have every confidence that the reel will actually handle everything i am going to do over the summer. I dont actually think the reel will fail me, its just sad to hear that it wont hold up for as much as i hoped.

I ordered the smoothdrag disks for it today. I will install them before my trip - i CANNOT wait to get this setup wet!

The Cabo 80 is almost twice as big as the stradic 8000, hence its weight. I had used both of them and I really like the Cabo more than the stradic. Stradic does the work but i think it wont last longer than the cabo under abuse. The cabo has double ceramic drag, its sealed everywhere, it has many features that the stradic dont have.

Well I have to say, that no it MIGHT not last a lifetime and it MIGHT not be up to the task of landing 200 lb tuna, but you didn't pay for a $1000.00 dollar Stella for a reason. I'm sure this reel will be just fine. Don't worry so much and fish with it.
