best point made, there have been many times (last week) where i have taken the rod out of my belt ducked the tip in the water and let that SOB run until she gets tired. People discount the most important thing when fishing which is smart fishing, knowing your limits your gears limits and when to check the ego at the door and fish smart not hard

Gman that is a great assessment, but some people don't know any better. As in my case the only rods available in my area for jigging were the Trevalla. I didn't learm about anything else until I found deepjigging and this forum and the tuna one. I have caught some pretty impressive fish on a Trevalla but I now know they are inferior to most other jigging rods on the market. Some are even cheaper and perform better.

Hey my friend ... ask me what my first jigging rod was? A trevala, then when they came out with the new f series ... I bought another one.

They are decent rods that are over stated IMHO but can get the job done and have a great warranty just not with bigger fish over 100 IMHO

The funny thing is the Japanese market has some of the best jigging rods out there we just dont get them here state side

Even Shimano makes a fine one. I had the pleasure of fishing with Freddy ( Ichibahn ) and he has a Shimano JigWrex Japan
and a Stella 20000. I was real impressed.

Thats exactly what I meant, Shimano has the jigwrex and the blue rose series two great lines of jigging rods

The jigwrex is a fantastic rod and not a huge price tag. It is decently priced compared to other japaneese style jigging rods, and handles beautifully. Of course the Stella is so far and away better than the Stradic I have used, that it made me want to quit fishing because I simply can't afford a Stella.
