I am looking at getting a spinning setup and not looking to spend an arm and a leg. Reel will be used mostly for jigging grouper, AJ, and small yellowfin and blackfin tuna.
I have always been a Shimano guy but I am comsidering trying out the Quantam Boca 80. I have heard good things about this reel and the price is hard to beat, just wondering what ya'll thought of this reel and also looking for alternatives in this same price range.
I have used them and for the money they held up fine I know a lot of captains in florida and venice that use them for tarpon and tuna so you should be fine

My dad has Boca 80 on a trevala XXH as his spinning setup (he mostly uses conventional) and he has caught AJ's up to 80lbs or so. He likes it. I have the Cabo 80 and I have no complaints. I haven't caught a Bluefin with it and I don't plan on it, but I think it works fine for what I use it for. I think the Boca will do you just fine for a starter or not-every-day-usage jigging setup. You may decide you want to upgrade, but I don't think you can beat it for the price.
Some others to look at in that price range are:
Shimano Spheros
Penn 750ssm
I have used both of those for AJ's up to 70-ish and they did well! I would use any of those for heavy-duty jigging or to go after a monster, but they will serve you well I think.

I have a boca 80, the only thing bad that I have found is the bail came loose once. Luckly I found the screw and fixed it, and its been working great every since. So if you get one, check it out first thing and wear it out.
Have you looked at the Tica Taurus? I don't have one but am planning on getting one soon. Have herd good things about the Tica. Haven't herd anything bad about the Boca. Thier both about $140. I'd like to try both.
Good luck and let us know how you like the new reel,
