Problems with PR Knot
I have been practicing and learning the PR knot. I thought I had it dialed; I had been using some old 65lb Power Pro and 30lb Ande line. I got it so that after 10 knots all 10 broke at 30+ pounds and not in the connection; always in the mono.
I recently tried it with some 80lb Pline Spectrex and some 60lb Ande and so far I haven't been able to get it to hold; it always comes apart at the connection.
Any ideas? I have tried pulling on the bobbin after first beginning the reverse spiral to tighten the start of the knot, which I think is where it is letting go. I have tried wetting the first 1/4 inch or so, all to no avail.
Thanks in advance for any replies,

Chum Nuts
While I haven't used that particular line, I have found that the key to a good PR knot is in the laying down of the first layer- you want to make sure that it gradually goes from a good level of spacing between turns, to turns that lie next to each other. If you feel confident in that, the next thing to check is the tension on the line as you spin- it should be hard to wrap. If it isn't hard to wrap the leader, it isn't tight enough. If both of those are good, then maybe you could go into "it comes apart at the connection"…where exactly does it start coming apart?

This is the video I used for learning the knot. Like I said it worked fine with the smaller line;

Thanks for your comments I will try paying more attention to the start and also try adding a little weight to my bobbin to increase the tension on the windings.
