Boat: NONE!!!
Best Catch: A Nette :)
Occupation: Professional Pasture Pool Player
Give some details on the "spoon" / "iron" / Taradactal (not butterfly) jig you have pictured.

WOW... Good stuff here. Makes me want to focus more efforts on jigging and try something larger than 6-8 oz jigs.

Looking at the pic, it definately is different. That was the first fish I caught and was so excited that I caught a good fish on the jig I didn't pay close attention. What is considered a big almaco?

Thanks Jim, we are probably going to be looking for one more on Saturday and was going to give you a call, but I just saw you are unavailable until February. Next time I guess!

I just realized that I'm off on the 19th for Lee/Jackson day. Might be a chance for romance, but after two back to back shows, I might have to use it to recoop. I'm not as spry as I used to be.

In general.... almaco's run about half the size potential of AJ's. The world record almaco is 78 lbs....... I think, I should probably go google it. BUT......... That almaco you have in the picture is rather large for NC waters. IMHO almaco fight harder pound for pound than AJ.

Thanks for the info. That fish did fight harder than some of the larger AJ's that I caught later in the day. Are the almaco's worm infested also?

That jig is a Dancing Magic from Japan. Measures 70cm (28.5") and weighs 1.2kg (2.6lb). Naturally these jigs are collectors items and expensive to buy as well as rare. The 3 Kings was a great spot for such a photo opportunity, I couldn't resist.
