After meeting him at the show last year, I think he and I will have a very good time exploring the options. He was really the only builder I really connected good with last year, because he took the time to understand what we were all about.

no light tip for jigging?
So my thought is opposite. For light rods, I prefer fast action rods and for big game I prefer parabolic rod. You need light tip to give action with light jigs, but you need backbone and right bend for big fish which usually don't requires action of rod tips like for smaller fish.

yeah, thats what its all about. trying to get the right thing for the guys.
i spend alot of time on the phone with customers when we talk.
they are nice looking bends.
i may get one to test.i havent felt it yet, also just to see how they "build"
the Blank bend looks nice.
but with guides..it will change.
and we need to be able to tell what drag they will take, before cutting grips.
and for guys who like cut grips..they will be able to fish higher drags..
but we will know.
just more info to Share..

The acidrod.com new rods....I just saw they are all 7'6". If I cut one down to 6' from the butt...would it greatly reduce the suggested jig weight? What are your suggestions for making a rod like the 7603 but in 6' that will handle from 200g to about 350g? I am new at rod building so sorry if this is a novice question.

Mitch

they are 7'6"
but if you look at the pics, there is alot hanging out the back.
so cutting some off maybe ok.
the pics are nice. great bend. looks like a good action.
just getting a few and trying..will be the key.

i have a custom on a mudhole blank, cut down to 5'2, its a sweet feeling rod, definately a heavier rating rod. ive had it bent through the forgrip, w/ 30lbs of drag on aj's and never thought it was completely strapped.

its one of my fav rods...just happens to be a cheaper blank, but feels great.

100$ or 500$, if it feels good to YOU and how YOU fish, then its worth its weight in gold.
