    Owner Wire Dancing Stingers

Brand new to this style of fishing. Just getting geared up and have a number of different styles of jigs. Picked up both kevlar and wire hook rigs. However, the Owner Wire hooks tell you to attach them to the split ring instead of the solid ring. This is contrary to every other rigging instruction. Can this create a problem with large fish? Is one better than the other? Other than some kings and the occaisional wahoo in my back yard, I don't see teeth as being a huge issue. Thanks for your input.

Solid ring, split ring to jig with assist hook on solid ring is good.

Swivel to split ring to jig with assist hook on swivel is also good.

i dont usually put it on split ring.

i would return those wire assist hooks cause they dont work the regular owner hooks are very good.
you can make your own hooks with 90 to 130 pound multistrand ss cable and crimps make sure to crimped 2 times or heated to get tied past the plastic coating. you can put a solid ring or just the loop at the other end.
put it on the split ring

I prefer attaching to the solid ring, that way when you are hooked up to a fish the line is directly across from the assist hook and a straight pull on the fish. I have also had some split ring failure and you will only loose the jig if that happens while you are attached to the solid ring. If you are attached to the split ring and it fails with a fish on you loose the jig and the fish too.
