I have seen the knot from hell that you need a degree from Harvard to tie. Isnt there anything less complicated that works? Im going for amberjack in the a.m. and at this point have uni to uni knot connection. Ideas? Suggestons?

You need a masters degree and a bobbin but the best insane knot would be the PR Knot (page ranking).
Other than that I keep it simple for years of connecting line to leader I have used the uni to uni with no failures just double teh amount of wraps on the braid side
I spent about 2 hours the other night trying to figure out a "Better" way. All I ended up with were cuts in my hands from the braid and not much else.![]()
i like the uni-uni
but
i may get a bobbin and practice![]()
Thanks guys. Im glad Im not the only one who thinks that Bobbin knot is hard to do.. I will post some pics. if we catch any. My first try using my new trevala spinning and conventional set ups..
best of luck to you and remember keep at it, some times they are iron shy
Caught a ton of nice amberjack up to about 50 pounds. By the end of the day just about everyone on the boat was raving about how easy it was to whip those jacks on my trevala & Avet JX 2 speed combo. The jacks were not digging the butterfly jigs but were slamming the big soft plastics I jigged. Big 10 inch chart. BKD's were hit almost as soon as you started jigging them back to the boat & way out fished the butterfly jigs. We also hit a few wrecks on the way back and this is where the Butterfly jigs were the ticket! I caught many big seabass, and tilefish on the metal jigs. Had one mystery fish on that pulled the hook halfway up. It was big! Might have been a jack but it was right on the bottom and the jacks usually were up in the water column. I will post pictures later..
If your on the eastern shore, you don't want to miss Kilsongs report about the lumpy bottoms.
Yeah I read that. Been thinking about going out there and trying but havent done it yet. I dont think I have the reels for tuna in that class. I have the big Thunnus on my spinner and a JX Avet on my conventional. The Avet might have enough line but I doubt the thunnus does. Might try anyway if I can get a ride out there. I only have a 20 ft. CC so I need a real nice day to go out there and there were plenty of big swells out in the Ocean yesterday left over from BERTHA I guess.
