The next bite on a jig.
They are sort of new. I think many don't know that much about them, but because of the price, most will not go there. Cheap, jigging and spinners typically don't go well together.

No reponse and no accolades is your answer.

A buddy of mine here in Costa Rica has one on both on his jigging and popping rod. He's used them a couple of times and they've worked just fine on roosterfish, big snapper, amberjack and others.

Still, we both are of the opinion that time will tell the true story. The just don't have the weight and the tight, smooth feel of a high quality reel. They also use an oiled felt drag which in my opinion is primed for problems...all you have to do is forget to loosen the drag after using once and you can create memory in the drag leading to a high start up inertia. Personally, I want a reel that is proven and recommended by serious jiggers.

The reels are new though and honestly have worked just fine so far.

the price is definately right and i hope some of the charter boats out of Hatteras/OI will step in on these reels because i have heard many of them have been using them on the large bluefins caught recently. I just purchased a cj80s, the largest due to the second fairlure of an older original penn 850ssm. The anti-reverse dog busted on a large 57.5" red this past week. I replaced the reel due to price and drag rating for the 50-80# pp that i use fishing for these large reds. I caught a 49" red drum that was man handled by this reel. the drag is very smooth, but again, this is just one trip. I will update after this spring on how this reel holds up to these big fish that tend to take hard long runs. I fish the reels hard in an attempt to not tire the fish and get them released quickly. I should be able to catch quite a few reds and some cobia on it in the next month and a half. i will also be offshore jigging with the reel off hatteras and try to give is a workout this weekend if the weather cooperates. First impression is it is the real deal. I got to fish some of Okuma's new makaira reels and the quality and function of the reel is such a step up from previous offshore stuff. I think they are one of the few companies tying hard to improve and stay within an afordable price. but the jury is still out.
