    Question oj5000p or gorilla C

    Hello everybody,
I am new to the forum and getting into this beautiful, addicting hobby of jigging. My question is I recentley bought a oti g3 400g conventional rod, and I was looking at 2 reels that the tackle store recommended me. One is the OJ5000p and the next is the GORILLA 12C. Can someone guide me in the right direction pls. Is is going to be my 1st conventional setup. Never used one before I am a spinning guy. And for that I have a stella20000sw with a oti 400g. thank you 4/your help.

    welcome to the site.
i have used the OJ 4000P but not the 12C.
i know a few people that have used the 12C and really like it.

they are both great reels, i dont think you will be disappointed with either.

i would fit both on the rod and see which feels better to YOU.

not everyone like the same thing. and what someone else likes you may not.
get it because YOU like it.
you wont go wrong either way

The OJ 5000p is taller than the 12C.The 12C is built like a tank and weighs like one too, both can achieve more drag than is needed. The 5000 will have more line capacity. The the 12C is a lever drag and the 5000 is a star drag.

I have used both, and prefer the star drag reels for fish under 150lbs.

12C is a 3/0 sized reel, OJ is a 4/0 sized reel. OJ has more line capacitiy as well. You are also comparing a star drag vs lever. Cant go wrong with either or.

edit: forgot to mention that I owned a OJ4000P and a 12C as well. Never got to use the 12C since I mainly use a JM PE6 reel. That reel sat around but it was built solid. I sold my OJ4000P back in earlier summer since I wasn't found of the 4/0 size reel.
