This is a very good point!
bottom fishing and vertical jigging are two very different things... however....if done in the proper style a verticla jig is deadly on bottom fish. Picture a YO-YO and once you find the bottom and make sure you have the bottom then you jig

high lift no crank and back down if you dont feel bottom let out more line!


a good way to know when your on the bottom is that your line will rest on the surface.. also pay close attention to your current if you have a lot of it it becomes VERY difficult to jig

I really want to catch some Grouper & sea bass, maybe play around with a Jack or 2. Everyone else was pulling up snapper. I do realize that it's all about the location...
How far you do most of you guys go out anyway? We normally go out to the Gulfstream about 50 miles out.
