    New Combo

Im looking to purchase a new combo for tuna jigging (yellows in the canyons and 100lbs class bluefins) and deep dropping for some tiles. Fishing off of Long Island. Any recommendations?

I was thinking about a Shimano Trinidad 40 matched with the Shimano Trevala F Series 5'8" XXH.

    Thanks guys

Talking trini I'll assume you're sold on conventional jigging. I just sold off my Trini 40 and switched to Jigging Master PE reels, I got the PE8 for the extra line capacity and heavier drag (I'll be prepared when the deamon tuna attacks lol) , plus you'll appreciate the extra line capacity when dropping down 600-900ft. It is hands down a better reel.
A J/M PE6-8 matched up to a Black hole 350gram or OTI 400 gram would be perfect, much better than the Trevala noodle.
If those rods are a little out of budget then check with JPR rods, you can have a custom JPR "budget" rod built for you for the same price as the TrevalaXXH and it will have much more backbone.

The Jigging Master reels can be purchased @ Kilsong's Jig and Pop

The next bite on a jig.
Once they are gone from that shop, you can still get them on Ebay.

Did you guys have the 40N specials? Because with some grease, those are solid.

Yeah, I gave up my 40n special. Good quality reel don't get me wrong. The Pe 8 just fit me and the rod a little better, it's a little lighter too.
