Jesse, Jim, and myself headed out yesterday to continur our pursuit of the elusive Bluefin. It turned out that we found a new body of fish for us and had a blast doing so.
We left in the dark as usual with very little moon, little wind, and little seas. What a combination to have 1:30 am. Well the peacefulness didn't last long as I was not paying enough attention and I trimmed the motors too high when we hit some really skinny water. I put just enough pressure on the transom gate that we built to shear one of the latch pins. All well we all can't be perfect, and this sure as hell was not going to keep us from catching today. Broke the inlet and ran 20knots in the dark heading for the 30 line. Upon arrival we saw the usual fleet there for a Sunday but had no idea how many more boats were on the way. I thought to myself that this was over since the bite has been slow lately. All well no biggy!!
I pulled back the throttles on spot and said theres a mark. Jim dropped, and in what seemed less then 5 minutes we were gaffing our first under of the season.
We had a couple missed bites and maybe Jesse caught one during that first drift. I can't remember. EIther way we moved a bit and at that point we were becoming frustrated with the crowds so we decided to move. Moving was the best thing we did all day. Because for the next 4-5 hours we had constant action with cookie cutter unders all around 44"-47" fish.
We all had fun and got to play with some new equipment, although I'll never figure out why Jesse decided to start jigging with his Black Devil 100. He called it practice for the Cape.....
This report is dedicated to Glen and the only reason it is being posted since he had to go to a party and now the weather is going to crap. Till next time.
PS That was a joke!!!............Ken Plan on making a trip while your up visiting and wish your father well from all of us.
