    Glenn,

You are sooooo right about that. Watching you guys dance with that jigging rod and whip some AJ ass was an awesome sight to see. My first AJ felt like I slammed right into a brick wall. It was just a bit easier after the first one.

I am no expert for sure, but isn't this reel a bit too heavy for jigging (especially Japanese style), its 52.2 oz (1,480 g) also the gear ratio seem a bit too low for jigging (2.3:1).

On the other hand it would be great for bottom fishing and wenching up grouper or sea bass.

It does have a programmable jigging mode so just read the instructions on how to activate it.

I got teased for using a harness belt for my first AmberJack trip, I dare not think what would happen if I used an electric reel. I suspect the batteries would have been tossed overboard (out of love of course).

Ty, that wasn't a teasing ... we were gentle. An electric reel, forget about that?? Thats like taking a picture with someone else's fish. If your jigging in 800' thats one thing but 300 manual is all that is needed

    Glenn,

Oh yes.. I knew you were going easy on me... since I was the new guy in the group. But I know I will get it hard the next time. But I will be ready for you guys. hahaha

The electric reel question was not mine. I know better than that on a jigging trip. In fact I knew the bucket harness was pushing it. But honestly for my first AJ trip I am grateful I had it.

Ty honestly you and Mike both did amazing for that style off fishing and I didnt care if you used a harness. Doesnt matter I was just ribbing you. What matters is you did great landed some fish and became more interested in offshore fishing

    Glenn,

    Thanks. I appreciate that.
I am hooked on this style of fishing for sure.
This style does put a higher demand on gear and the person. And I am always up for a challenge

    Eastern Tackle - Ayasugi jigs

    Jim,

The Ayasugi jigs were at my apartment door waiting for me when I got home from work today. They look great! I look forward to using them on Oct. 9th for YFT trip in the Canyons off the NJ coast.

    Jim,

The 60# AJ I got had me doubled up in pain. That was the first time I ever got such a fish. It got easier later that day and the next day, but still one hell of a fight.

I will do my best to make sure I get a good photo for you.
