Mid knot is/was kilsongs go to knot. But after many failures on tuna, he may have reconsidered? I was waiting for his comment.

PR knot is the staple of jigging community for some. I prefer bimini to windon myself.

Also a SIG knot is one tough little knot and easy to tie.

I use the slim beauty knot for on the boat and the pr knot on land. Well that's the plan after I get my bobbin anyhow.

Slim beauty can be a good one! It can also be weak. Their are several variations of it. I had to tie and test until I found one that worked, but I can tie a really good SB that I am very confident in as well.

My only complaint about a lot of knots over windons is they sound clunky through the guides.

I use the spider hitch to double the braid and then an albright with a 3 turn uni lock to seal the deal. Works great.

What kind of braid? After testing in the yard I came to the conclusion that the spider hitch is not a good knot for braid.

I have used Power pro and Tuf-LineXP and Jerry Brown and never had a problem with knot failure. PP however has let me down many many times, breaking just inside or outside the tip guide while jigging.

I reported I had a failure of mid knot while fighting a big bluefin out of Hatteras, NC last month, but I also mentioned that it was my mistake to make the knot hurridly as action was hot.
Mid knot and PR knot has same concept and the PR knot is a extention of Mid knot. When you make the Mid Knot properly the knot is as good as any knot. The knot has been proved by many GT fishermen throughout the world which usually use heavy drag for them. I fought a 250 lbs yellowfin with the knot over one and half hours without knot failure.
In a sense, I like Mid Knot better than PR knot which is a little long for my taste.

On a recent Panama trip, I taught my friend Jin how to tie Mid knot on the boat, but he lost a nice yellowfin due to failure of Mid Knot. The problem was he didn't tighten the knot enough. I told him to tighten hard until the knot becomes darker and pull hard to see whether the knot slip or not after he made the knot. I always put some super glue on it.
After he made a good Mid knot, he caught 100 lbs yft on a popper with the knot and he was a happy man.

I told every jig fisherman should learn how to tie Mid Knot at my jigging seminars as the knot is as strong as any knot and has lowest profile as well as proven knot. PR knot is as good as Mid Knot, but it requires bobbin and is hard to tie on a rolling boat though some can make the knot expertly on a rolling boat.

Jin landed a 100 lbs yft using the Mid Knot

Forget all the testing and preferences, switch to wind ons and you'll never worry about failure again.....No loud noises going through the guides, less wind knots and snapping off 60 dollar lures, no tying a substandard knot in a hurry, no extended periods of inactivity feverishly trying to get a line and lure back on your line to cast while fish bust and boil all around you, no more expensive and easy to lose bobbins.....
