Tough day, I think the bluefins won today.
Same crew as yesterday on board for more Jiggin and topwater action.
We had a hard time finding a mark, finally about mid morning we found some marks and Keith hooked up. Shortly after breaking the rod (his second for the trip) he landed about a 60 pounder. The fish was released before we could decide weather to keep it or not, probably would have released it anyway.
After another long drought of jiggable marks, we found a huge area of fish, the marks were deep but our crew hooked up on a triple header!
One reel was flirting with getting spooled. The main line on Andy's fish parter while it was out about half a spool. John's fish was almost to the leader when it changed direction on him and the main line chafed off on the boat, looked like a fish in th 75-80" range and fat. We still had one hooked, which everone fought over the next three hours, breaking a fighting belt in half in the process, don't think that has ever happened on the Bite Me.
I was determined that we were gonna stay as long as we needed to catch this rascal, but at about 3:00 and after he had pulled us about 10 miles up the beach, the line broke.
The tunas have to win sometimes!
Thanks guys.
Broken Tackle.......
