    MAKING JIGS?

anyone see on hunt for big fish Larry Dahlberg making those jigs? they were really cool. The one kind of jig he made for tarpon...its sweet how the hook releases from the jig!

The next bite on a jig.
When I was first starting to discuss the creation of my jig business, my friend from Florida was raving about these.

Is that what you are talking about?

yeh something like that. great concept, tarpon jumps + head shakes, and he has no weight of the jig to throw around to rip it out...

He said they go through a blue zillion of them, because its one jig on every bite basically. But I explained to him that is someone else idea, not mine.

I watched a show today, Tarpon of Boca and they used jigs similar to that. They said Florida recently outlawed any weight that released. So now they zip tie the jigs to the hook so they don't release. Kind of strange jig set up.

No it was not a torney. They were interviewing jig and bait fishermen about the differences.

Saw that show........It's more like a Stingsilver or a fat / thick Crippled Herring with a hole running thru it from top to bottom, for the line - same concept as an egg sinker or a Caroline rig ..........
The heavy lure rides up the line to a swivel, when a Tarpon was hooked - they used trebele hooks in the show.......

It was based on an idea a local guide had - only the guide bent both eyes on the jig to one side & ran his line on the outside ..........

He said ( Larry D. ) his hook up rate improved & he lost fewer jigs.........

    Hope this explains it.................ICM

I think that Cotee jig or any break away lead weights have been banned in Fla., because it's causing issues with lead posioning...

This is what I was told by a tackle store owner in Tarpon Springs last year.......ICM
