Mahi and grouper 6/1 Wrightsville beach

Fished around the 250 line. Lines in at 8pm. I think we might have gotten the full spread out once. When the dust settled at 11 am we had 9 mahi in the box and were on our 3rd pack of ballyhoo. Released a 30# king that we thought for sure was going to be a wahoo. We decided to go deeper to look for something else. Landed another gaffer and decided to drop the jigs. Got a nice red grouper and lost a sea monster. One more stop on the way in yields 2 more fat reds on jigs. Calm seas, tons of meat, and didn't break anything on the boat, didn't lose any jigs...can't beat that. Hot jig was Shimano flatside in squid glow....it was clearly preferred.

nice job. squid glow is by far my go to color if i am using a shimano flatside.

Nice trip and report. I also like to mix it up when I go out, trolling then some jigging. There are times when you can put together some very nice days like you just did.
