Its a nice upgrade for a sticky reel. When pete put carbontex in my saltigas it bumped the max drag from 22 to 28. You need to be careful of that aspect, because it is actually more than the reel is engineered to withstand.

Jim,
Have you have any troubles with the anti-reverse? I have the washers but haven't upgraded my 30 T yet, just haven't gotten around to it. I definitely need more drag for the groupers and AJ's

I have not had any anti-reverse issues on my 40 or 30T. They have both been bulletproof. I can recommend them without hesitation.

The best part was I got them from the discount tackle shop before the demand for them grew so much and got a deal.

Thanks. Where did you say you got that fancy handle from? Thinking about upgrading mine.

Kilsong. There are also some aluminum handles that are on 360 right now and cost much less, however you would need to inquire about them, to see if they are any good?

This is the link to the other one. You might need to send him an email to see about more selection.

OTI is coming out with a lower budget jigging rod next year. I was playing with the blanks at ICAST and was quite impressed. Right now they're actually 2-piece rods meant for travel. The price should be about $150.

I agree with what everyone else said regarding spinners. conventionals end up being cheaper for a high end reel. Saltigas are awesome reels, and are about the price of a Saragosa. Just depends which you prefer.

I think the current one piece OTI G3 rods from JPR Paul are one of the best buys on the market for a stock rod. Light as a feather and good warranty.

I'm not sold on the two piece rods for day in, day out use, but I understand the travel aspect, and at $150 should be good, if that is retail.

yeah the $150ish would be retail on the budget rods. I do want a 2-piece jigging rod for travel (nice to just carry it on in a tiny case), but i agree for normal use at your home port then 1 piece is the way to go.

Auto jig mode? You might as well go to the grocery store and just buy the fish and be done with it. No point in even going.
