    Leader Connection - Help

I just got myself two jiggin setup swhich i will be using to target BFT in NJ... I have a spinning and conventional setup that i have spooled with 50lb braid and was wondering what i should use for my leader.

My initial thoughts are 50# seagar fluro, which i will connect with an albright knot.

I have reads gmans intro, but was also wondering what you guys would suggest.

    Let me know, thanks.

Ok there are some good knots to use here and you will get many opinions on this.
For me, I highly recommend using a PR knot, Midknot, or using spliced loops. I use PR knots 99.9% of the time and never had failures with it.

As for fishing BFT in NJ, I would highly reccommend stepping up to a minimum of 65lb main line and 80lb leader. I've landed 100+lb BFT on 65lb, but the last 2 seasons have been using nothing other than 80lb and 100lb. Just food for thought.
Please feel free to ask anything about jigging NJ or BFT, they are my 2 favorite things.

100lb windon leader and 80lb braid for me. Catches everything from 2lb snapper to 200lb tuna.

For NJ BFT I would follow the master BFT jigger mr jig4tuna. 80 fluro minimum preferably 100. On our last trip I had 5 fish all on 100 fluro with numerous additional hits. If they are there and feeding 100 is fine

Jig42na - thanks for your recommendations i really appreciate your feedback... I think you right im going to eventually re-spool the reels with 80lb braid, im looking at the daiwa PE6 boat braid.

Also, i cant really find much on how to tie the PR, except with the bobin... do you have any suggestions on where i can find how to tie the PR?

And how much topshot would you recommend?

Anyway, i have recently gotten into tuna fishing and more importantly jigging for tuna... i have been out a handful of times, haven't personally landed a BFT yet, and am already addicted. I cant imagine how much its going to multiple once i boat my first.

I am sure that this is the first of many conversations that we'll have about jiggin tuna.

    Thanks a lot, much appreciated

Can someone recommend to me a quality bobbin for the PR knot and a place that I can order it online. I don't mind spending a few bucks on something that will last a long time.

    Thanks - Cassidy

I've done something similar with some fly tying stuff I had lying around. Didn't have the lead tape handy so just took a lead sinker outside with a hammer and flattened it out and cut into wedges that fit inside the hollow part of the spool. Worked great.

I just got some rigging needles and hollow-core braid to make my own wind-ons, etc. so I hope to streamline things even more.
