Me too! Sounds like a blast!!! I sure needed some rest before work today after two days of less than ideal conditions! Glad to hear you guys killed them! That's the way we were telling everyone it was...only to dissapoint them when it came time to fish! I hope everyone still had fun Friday and Saturday though! I know I did!

i had a blast on friday, wearin out the trash tiles![]()
are we going to get some actual fish pictures from this fishing report????![]()
Ok guys, here are the pics I have from the trip. Not too many because we were pretty much constantly hooked up.
Day 1 was a little sporty but the Cat handled it well. I was fishing with Dean, Mitch, Steve, and Mark. We had a slow start, but picked it up pretty good when we found the fish. We all got some good action on the Jacks and Mark seemed to find every trash tile out there. We moved to try and get into some grouper near Zack, but arrived after the bite stopped (never thought I'd drop a jig over 400ft). Back to the area we had the action at and continued until it was time to head in. We caught a bunch of 20-25lb jacks, a king (and parts of another), and saw a huge shark chasing an AJ as we brought it in. We stopped at another spot on the way in and got into some better jacks (at least they felt bigger) and Mark got a triggerfish on the jig (by the way, my wife has a new favorite fish). Made the ride back in and got ready for another day.
Got the call Friday night that most people weren't fishing and asking if I still wanted to. Of course-if there's a spot, I'm in. Well, back on the Cat with Dean, Mitch and Paul on Saturday morning. We took some pride in being the only 4 going out again. Conditions were a lot better and we made the first stop a little closer than Friday. I hooked up a cobia on the second drop and Mitch threw him in the box. This was going to be a great day. Had another huge cobia around the boat splashing at some stick baits and a jig, but didn't get him to commit. Got a bunch of jacks and a BSB. Headed further offshore when the dive boats showed up. This stop had more jacks-around 40lbs. We saw a dolphin circling the boat so Mitch threw a stick bait at him and he hit 3 times but didn't want the hook. Later on I managed to get one on the surface-best way to catch 'em! At one of the other spots we hit Paul hooked into a giant shark and got it boat side for some pictures and a cut of the assist hook. Anyone know what kind it is? It hard to tell from the pics, but the tips of the tail were rounded and the teeth almost perfect triangles. Last stop on the way home we played keep-away from a big cuda with the stick bait and a few more jacks. Nice ride home with a ton of fish caught.
I had a great time and want to thank Jim and Zack for heading this up, Dean and Mitch for volunteering their boat, and everyone I fished with for some good conversation and tips on jigging techniques.
Matt
