    Talking a JPR wrapped BH250 + 7ft Bull Shark = ????

= a shark going WTF just happened?!!?!?

i forgot to post this - hahaha, this is two weeks ago sunday, i think.

So we were drifting a spring in the Gulf - sounder showing fish EVERYWHERE. On the end of the first drift i hook up. i was out Sunday trying to get my step dad on a bent rod - so as soon as i hooked up i passed the rod (his back doesnt really allow him to jig). and he was struggling - line still going out, etc... so im thinking "maybe i had the drag too low" BUT the rod is BENT OVER! so when the fish gave a rest i tried to pull line by hand... i could barely pull an inch, with the fish helping me.... uh oh... i hooked a big one. so im thinking a big gag or heavy AJ, ya know. So i run to grab the camera and say "dad, yell when you see color!" but the fish was coming up under the boat so all of a sudden he goes "oh, its a shark"(all bummed and un-enthusiastic). then i hear him go "uhhhhhhh" and i ask "what?!?!?" and he just looks at me right as i see the jig fly out of the water less an assist hook.

he said "uhhhhh" because the fish was being lifted by my BH250(i love these rods!) head first towards the boat. so he saw it was a shark. then when the shark realized it was getting near the surface it turned sideways and the "uhhhhhh" was my step dad watching the tail go out past the engines. it was a 7ft(easy) bull shark. and when he got next to the boat my dad took tension off the rod and he got the jig into his mouth and was able to slice through two strands of 500lb kevlar line like butter. i never got a picture or anything. But at least its a good story - so i call the day a win

OH! by the way - this is the first fish ever caught on this rod AND reel! they were both virgins! lets hope they keep it this epic on every trip!

    StepDad wrecking that sharks day!

so much for my teath resistant assist cord.

unfortunately this wasnt set up yet so i didnt get any film
