the 350 would be fun
.
the 400 may not be a dramatic change, but, it will give you a little more backbone if needed.
the 500 would be another choice.
that would give you the power you may need for bigger fish.
i seem to do more spin in 350 and 400
and the conv in 500.
also the 450,alot of choices
if you are target fish under 90# the 350 should be ok
anything over that. i would setup up.
if you target fish over 100# mostly..think the 500
If you want the rod strictly for tuna, I recommend 400 JM Power Spell rod. It is not that 350g rod can not handle big tuna, but it is because you can give more pressure to give fish with heavier drag when big tuna show up, especially out of Cape May. We are expecting bluefin in 120- 18- lbs range next year. I fought bft in 130 - 140 lbs range with JM Power Spell 350g and the rod still have enough backbone for them.
The rule of thumb is 22 - 24 lbs drag for 350g and 23- 27 lbs drag for 400g Power Spell rods.
There is not much difference between 500g and 45g JM Power Spell. JM made 450g rods mainly for New Zealand fishermen.
