    Jigstrong Jigfest May 2010 Report

Well, I know many people have been waiting for this and it is finally here, the report for this year Jigfest hosted by Jigstrong.

This year trip was awesome as always, the weather became a problem a little bit but we work it out and got everyone out fishing. After looking at the weather report on Wednesday, I had to call everyone and ask if we can move the fishing trip a day forward, Thursday was call for 10 knots or less, Friday was call for 10-15 knots and Saturday was the same but Sunday was unfishable.

After a couple of phone call between jiggers and captain, I got 9 jiggers to come on Friday, Sami and Paul (Saltywater), Greg (maximum anchorage), Matt, Santosh (Frogfish), Aaron (aarond), Benz, Carlos and myself.

After the report from Capt. Rick on Thursday landing 33 blackfins on jigs, we decided to run to that same spot for the same action.

We all met Capt. Chip and Capt Mike, at the dock at around 5.45 and everyone was ready for a day of hurtin'.

We were greeted with a mediocre sea and got out to the spot in no time, the Almaco were thick and after the first couple of drops we had many Almaco and just a hand full of AJs.

We drift for a little bit and many fish were boated but still no monster, about mid morning the flyers were out and about, many top water activity, I decide to throw the Skagit Pump King with the KGS70MH and my SW6000, not long after that I was rewarded with a nice Blackfin, not long after that I was awarded with 3 more Blackfin all on Skagit Pumpking.

After the first day, Greg was awarded with the biggest AJ on Capt Mike at 72lbs and Paul was 80lbs on Capt Chip, Capt. Chip had many Blackfin as well but all on Nasout Jigs. I also caught my first wahoo on Jig ever on Fisherman Andaman.

    Here are some pictures!

    2nd Day Report!

We all met at Terrazzo on Friday night and talk about how the day went, we were join by 5 other members of the trip, Dan (Uncle Rico), Dan (Shoefish), AL (Fishingeek), Yod, Pete and Kevin. Thank you Mike for the great hospitality for all of us at Jigstrong.

    Gear between 3 of us!

CONGRATULATION TO KEVIN FOR LANDING THE BIGGEST AJ OF THE TRIP!

What an absolute blast the weekend was. Topper- thanks for setting it all up dude, it couldn't have gone better.

Wilmington is no joke and should be on the list of anyone who is into jigging- the combination of the number of species you can catch, their size, the local captains (Chip, Rick, and Mike), and the local food and people make it a must fish for sure.

I can't wait for next time
