Best Catch: The next bite on a jig.
Last time I went by Custom Marine, they had a good selection of several rods to compare. Just check your ratings.

You won't be fishing anything over 60-80'. So you will only need jigs up to about 2oz/60g.

I think this is more important than what brand you get.

You could even get by with an ugly stick and an ambassador 5500 for this depth.

Hopefully Jesse will chime in here, because he spends some time fishing the stuff you are talking about.

The one thing you may want to consider, may be the appearance of larger jacks in the summer.

1 heavy 7'6 spinning rod for throwing large poppers to aj's, w/ a saragossa 18000 , w/ 65lb or so braid.

1 med action conv rod 6'0 or 6'6, w/ a 30 saltiga size reel rated for 3-6oz'ish area

this will cover 99% of what you want to catch in that range, keeping the costs to a minimum.

in the end it, recomending gear greatly depends on the budget you set for yourself. but you really cant go wrong w/ a saragossa 18000 and a trevala , for the $ they are really hard to beat. w/ all my saltigas/customs, i still find myself grabbing my saragossa more times then none.

Thanks,
Spinner going after Kings- Cobia -Grouper-Bass
there might be a boca 80 as the reel half.
No chance of going much the way of deeper

EmeraldIsler :
Another rod you might want to look at is the Barefoot jigging rod. Great rod for a super fantastic price.

I would recommend also a Hopper jigging rod from http://www.captharry.com From what I hear Barefoot and Hopper use the same blanks but Hopper is built a little more heavy duty.
