    JIGGING WITH SPIN REEL

most guys use conventional reel and crank with right hand
then switch to spin and use left hand to crank

what do you use and what do you think is comfortable
i use my left hand to crank, but may try the right hand on a trip or 2 this year

in my case, im left handed, so the right arm does all the cranking. pisses people on my boat off when they grab a spinning rod and find the handle on the wrong side.
when i get on someone else's boat, i grab the first conventional set up i can get my hands on.

I don't know why, but I grew up using a spinning reel with the handle on the right-hand side so I still fish spinners with my right hand cranking (just like with a conventional). That's why I bring my own gear everywhere; I feel bad switching the handles from one side to another on someone else's reel Oh yea, AND I'm right handed so I think I'm just a retard deep down inside lol.

Conventional on the right, Spinner on the left.
Got on a head boat in Maui and they had the spinners set up backward. Crank on the right. had him change mine and he said Oh, you must be left handed. Whats up with that ?
Spinners always been on the left. It's like apple pie.
Just somethin you dont mess with

Guess it's all what your used to.
Only reason I can figure for a spinner to crank on the left for a right handed person is so the rod is under control by your strong arm since it's usually not in a belt.

I've only done this jiggy thing a handful of times (and really like it). So take this for what it is worth....

This past weekend I was out and found that having a spinner with the left handed crack and a conventional with a right handed crack allowed me to switch hands throughout the day. Whenever on got tired, I switched.

The other thing was that I had different style jigs on each set up. So if one wasn't working I just grabbed a different rod/jig.

Most of you guys are very specialized and have a lot of $$$ tied up in your jigging gear. My stuff was cheaper than the set ups you use. So I could more cost effectively carry two different styles of reels.

I jig ever time i go out from kingfish to warsaw grouper in 350ft. I use a convention set up with a trinidad which cranks on the right but i also use a stella step up and cranks on the left. There is no benefit of using any convention reel to a stella set up. Their drag and power are as strong as any. Use what feels most comfortable
