    Jigging Rod

Has any body used the Offshore Angler Extreme Jigging rod for offshore jigging. Are they strong enough to hold up to Tile fish, Grouper, Jacks, Tuna?
I'm going to put together 3 outfits for deep jigging but I don't think custom rods are in my budget this year.

    Thanks,
    Michael

Check out Barefoot or Hoppers Rods for something cheaper and still effective if you're not going custom.

I own two offshore angler freestyle jiggers

I have one rated at 80-200# and the other 65-200#.
I'm a twice a year greenhorn who just likes to own his own gear.On three trips out of Lewes, Delaware I've yet to have a jig nailed. After seeing the photos and reading the other posts
I'm alittle scared of gettin bit. Confidence in your gear is anice
thing to have, when your fishing out where the fish can easily
    be bigger than you are.
My last time out was 7/25 Trolling. Underway from Anglers
marina in Lewes at 3:45 am trolling the Masseys at 7am.
not a single strike til 3:30pm when we boated a false
albacore.I dropped a jig maybe a dozen or so times hoping for a follower but no such luck.
I was on a overnight chunk last year and cranked jigs from 5.5 to 9oz. and my arm was about ready to fall off by am. Only
marked good fish drifting once all night, and they were down about 1200 ft.(just a little out of range).
I'm going on another overnighter on 9/15-9/16 hopefully I'll be able to give you a rod review after our trip, and hopefully it wont include shattered rods.

    good luck on your trip
make sure your line is marked or you know what depth your jig is at
being in the right zone is important
just guessing depth is the best way to not get bite

Jerry Brown and I talked about 5 color PE line tonight. His opinion is that 5 color line is over priced for what it is. He said a sharpie marker mark every 25 or 30 ft, whatever you prefer, is one method.

To be honest, I would rather have small marks every 25 feet than line colored the way my boat braid is. Or one small mark for 50, two marks for 75, three for 100.

But to answer your question, sharpie.

He is sending me some of his new blue solid line tomorrow for my saltiga 40 I just got. I am really interested to see how his 80lb solid compares to Diawa pe6 boat braid.

To be honest, I have only used the white hollow until now.

I am also getting some blue hollow 130 for windons, which I will make available on my site before long. After my past few trips, I believe that the windons are essential for fish over 70lbs.

I will surely report my findings.
