most of us use the PE line for jigging usually 100-300yds
what do you put under the line as backing?
my choices have been tuffline XP and suffix braid in 65 and 80#

Hi Paul,
I usually keep any left over braid and use it for backing my reels and always use the same or heavier line class when filling the reel.
Cheers,
Ian
i just ordered 300yards of the OTI jigging line in 80lb, and was wondering whats my best bet for backing, im interested in the xp tuff line but im not sure should i go for the 80 also or drop it down to 65 and go for cap? its going on an accurate 665 standard 2 spd.
YEP SHIP,and take CC.. we are getting the OTI line of product on the east coast now. i am working with tackleshops. marinas and a few charter boats
we will be announcing the availabilty soon
it will be nice to visit your LOCAL TACKLE shops and be able to buy![]()
still looking for more shops to get the OTI PRODUCT LINE![]()
im sorry paul i wish i would have known you shipped.. i would have ordered from you before anyone.. im not real familiar with the area but im going to have to stop by the shop sometime if i get into this jigging stuff in depth and have you build me a rod.
Hi Paul,
Haven't been out for a jig for a while.......family duties and poor weather has slowed things down......I hope to get out with my mate on the 18th if all goes well.
With any luck the Yellowtail Kings will be gathering as winter usually sees some better fish, though not as many........quality rather than quantity I say.
I use a few different lines......Jigman X, Suffix Herculine, Pioneer Tuna Terror, Shakespeare Cajun Braid and all have been good. I try to grab cheaper braid whist it is on special and use it soley as a backing even if it is only 50mtrs or so just to get the capacity up.
Cheers,
Ian
