Take a look at the accurate's also. I love my 270's. I am trying to decide between an accurate 870 narrow, a daiwa saltiga 30T, and the avet JX right now. Decisions....decisions.

I don't think you will like the avet for jigging in NC. not enough drag, binding and durability issues. IMHO

    Peen Tourque

I have been using the peen tourque 200 for the last 3 years and have reeled in nemourous fish from yellowfin from 40 pounds to bluefin at 120 pounds. Its has a star drag system, soon they are coming out with a lever drag which will be the next reel i invset my money into

I have never had issues with the durability other than a bearing. I still think bang for buck it is a great real. The whole thing about 14lbs drag is a joke. You can get 20lbs, but like what WhiteLake said it will bind. You can't expect it to feel like a Saltiga. The other thing is it is super light.

You can't beat Accurates smoothness for a lever drag, but so far my Avets have outlived accurates 10 fold. Especially the 2 speeds. Although I'm not a fan of the Hoo-X either.

I have fished my avet jx for 3 hard seasons. I've caught over 50 bluefin on it. I love the reel and it's simplicity. I set my drag at 16#'s at strike. When i hook a fish i take it to full and i get 24#'s of drag. At 24#'s the reel binds up some but i don't mind it when fighting fish. I don't know if my avet is different from others but i can get well over 30#'s of drag and still have have free spool. Some people don't like the anti reverse for jigging because it's not an instant anti and it will click/bang into the dawg when speed jigging.
