    Jigging outfits

I am looking at the capt harry jigging combos (avet jx & hopper) and trying to decide between the 4"10" 400g rod
or the 5'8" 270g rod. I am primarily thinking of seabass
off the md coast but could end up off the n.carolina coast
for tuna and or tilefish, grouper. I don't want to go to heavy as I live in md. Any thoughts from the veterens. Thanks

for seabass, tile and grouper. i like a longer rod. usually 7' or more. (personal choice)
rated to use 30 to 60#line. depending on line/ jigs and size of fish you target..
    that is basically bottom fish.
and most guys dont do crank/jerk style.

for tuna, where the jerk/crank jigging method may be your choice of fishing style.

the shorter rod under 6' is usually preferred.

if you are doing more bottom fishing, you may like a longer rod.
which you would be able to also use for tuna.

the JX is a nice reel.

The next bite on a jig.
Out of the choices the 5'8 270 rod would be a more versatile rod.

If you have a general idea of the specifications you want, you might be able to have Paul or billy40 build you a semi custom for just a few dollars more. Spiral wrap on those lighter blanks has some benefit.

5'8 270 rod would be better for you IMHO keep in mind if the tiles and grouper are in really deep water over 500 you will have issues getting down on target with 270 jigs

I talked to capt.harrys they said there is a 325g 6' hopper rod
that they would sell as a combo with the avet jx. Do you guys think this would be a better compromise for my situation?
