Nice trip! I think Pompano Dolphin.

By the way I have the same boat and love it. I have not had mine in the Gulf yet (far drive from Maryland) I had my old boat in the Gulf a few times and always had a good time down there.

FishDuck: we love our 26 sea hunt too. We had a 23 before & liked it, so when we decided to move up, we stayed with SH. They have a lot of fishing room & the ride is pretty nice too.

The Pomp D subject: Here's the email response I just got back - if anyone else catches chickens/peanuts I guess inspect them well - You could also have a Pompano Dolphin.. It was a surprise to me FOR SURE!! Take a second to note the following so you can report them to CSS if you want to too. Apparently not much is known about them or their patterns.

    Amanda,

Congratulations!!! Yes they are pompano dolphin.

I have a series of questions.

First I would like to get the GPS position of where you caught the fish.

How many of the fish do you suspect that may have been pompano dolphin?

Did you get a measurement on the pompanos?

I would like to get hi-rez files on the two photos that you sent.

You can tag pompano dolphin also.

Thank you for taking the time to report these fish. Very few people ever identify these fish. This is good information for science.

    Good fishing,

    Don

The next bite on a jig.
When you have eyeballed enough of them, you can start to tell them apart. Buts it sort of like being able to tell twins apart.

Definetly help out Don with the location info. He is a great guy and doing a lot to unlock the dolphin mystery.
