    Jigging Master Rod

Looking to purchase a JM rod. I am undecided about the weight. I fish out of Morehead City, NC mostly fishing for bottom fish & grouper. I mostly fish in 100ft + using up to 350gram jigs. The biggest fish i have caught to date jigging is about 50 lbs. I am primarily fishing for fun. I don't know wheter to purchase the 300, 350 or 400 gram spinning rod. Anybody with some experience on these rods please chime in. Thanks

The next bite on a jig.
Like Ponce, you will want the 350. Maybe the 300 because you are jigging shallow, but not the 400 for sure.

The 350g is such a sweet rod. One of the best they make. Go 350!!

the 300 or 350 would be a good choice.
    very little differance.
but the 350 will give a little more power.
you should be happy with either.

If your catches are smaller than 50 lbs, 300g JM rods are good choice. The line rating of 300g is upto PE6 while upto PE7 for 350g rod.
When I started to sell Jigging Master rods, there were many interest in heavier rods, but I have more demand of lighter rods now even they catch same size fish. It seems they enjoy more with lighter rods.
I thought I needed at least 400g JM rod for tuna, but I was really surprised to see how 350g rod handles a 130 lbs bluefin with reserve power. JM guys is going to Three Kings Island, NZ soon and Pony said he would try big 50 - 100 lbs hapuka(wreckfish) with 100g Jigging Master Power Spell.
I plan to bring more 100g - 250g JM rods in the near future.

I would say 300g rod is good for 18 - 20 lbs drag and 350g rod for 20 - 22 lbs drag though both can take heavier drag.

Like Seadraggin said I have the JM 350 and really like it. I have it matched with a Saltiga 40 and PE-6 line, 20-22 lbs of drag. I fish the same areas as you and think it is a great set-up for what I fish for. It has handled 50-60 lb AJ's with plenty of power to spare, but loads nicely while jigging.

I got my road from Kilsong, we talked for quite a while on the best choice for my type of fishing, I think it was a very good choice.

how big AJ do you feel the 300g would be good for?

David, are you practicing for Panama trip ?
I tested 300g JM Terminator rod for AJ in NC last year and I got confidence 300g rod can handle big AJ.
I am going to test 200 - 250g JM rods for AJ in NC this year.
