    Here is a 170 - 180 lbs caught by Shin with JM PE5 filled with Varivas Bigone PE6 last week.

    powerful for their size. noisy due to the twin dogs, (strong though) and too slow for Mech.Jigging IMHO.

    I just picked up a stella 20k (Spinning is much more natural for me) so im going ot have to wait to get a higher end conventional, but i really really like the JM PE4

    would love to test one out

    It might slow for your style of mech jigging, but not me.

    JM guys are hardcore jig fishermen and they love AJ jigging.
    When they make 4:1 gear ratio reels, there are good reasons for it.

    Maybe its my style but i like the slower retrieve. Even when i speed jig I like to get some slack in the line of the fall. I feel it gives the jig the best action. This is especially true for tuna jigging as I am big believer is shorter fast strokes with a true walk the dog action. The best method I found is a really fast long jerk off the bottom to blow up the sand, and then fast short jerk on retrieve. Its DEADLY on BFT sand eel bite!!!

    It did take me awhile to get use to the long handle arm, I could see benefit of PE4 handle on a PE5 reel, but you will lose some of that power.

    Good stuff right there... thanks for the feedback and advice on the technique... how much longer is the handle on the PE5?
