Jigging in the Gulf Coast for YF Tuna?

Sorry for a stupid question. Never done any jigging since we usually troll. I'm seeing all the pictures of tuna, dolphin and wahoo that I would never associate with jigging. Does anyone know if this method works down here in the Gulf of Mexico. We fish out of Venice, LA.

    Thanks for any feedback!

Yes, works like crazy because you are fishing the whole water column and not just the top.

We fish out of Venice regularly during the summertime, and absolutely hammer the fish on jigs!

I myself been jigging out of Venice and Grand Isle for around 10 years. One thing to have is very stuff rods and a power reel.Hell,I am using 300lb power pro on a Saltiga 50.Reason is,fish do love to pull you into the rigs.My first couple years I must of lost over 100 jigs due to fish poping the line. That adds to big bucks fast. Then throw in sharks.Dam things love jigs too!
