    jigging cozumel?

K, so my wife has twisted my arm into going on a cruise to Cozumel in mid December. Has anyone out there had any success jigging out there? Any charter recommendations?

I've jigged several times out of Playa del Carmen on the other side of the Cozumel strait. Huge schools of30-60 lb. amberjack are present that time of year less than a mile of the beach and the jigging can be quite good. I'm not sure what goes on out by Cozumel, but with similar drop-offs close to shore and knowledge of the technique surely spreading that way from Playa I'm sure you could find the right boat to take you out if you went down to the marina and asked around. A word of caution though, if the boat captains are anything like they are in Playa, they'll tell you anything you want to hear in order to sell a trip...check the boat, check the gear, make sure everything regarding your day on the water is confirmed in advance.
