the captains on the voyager are pretty damn good at that.. some humpbacks, some wreckfish, some barrell fish, and some cod and maybe pollock depending on the water...

make you boys jig in like 200 ft wouldnt be to bad at all!!
Thanks.... keep the well wishes coming.

I was on Jigfest II we were jigging in 280 to 300 ft of water for Amberjacks. What a workout that gave me! So a 200ft wreck fishing trip would be a breeze in comparison.

I just want to have some fun out on the water... regardless of what we catch.

I am really looking forward to meeting some new people on this trip and learning how to improve my jigging skills.

A few guys on the forums have been very helpful, and I greatly appreciate it.

A special shout out to a few guys that are helping me prepare for this trip:
* JerseyBrian for selling me his Shimano jig bag loaded with some very nice jigs. I look forward to seeing you at Jigfest IV.
* Jason4606 for the awesome deal on his Saragosa 1800F and the great advice on rod selection for it.
* Jim of EasternTackle/BluewaterJigs for making a wonderful jig at a great price. And I am glad I won the naming contest (Ayasugi). I also want to try the Sand Flea jigs.
* TJ of OTI for the great customer service for my OTI Jigging Rod.
* Kilsong for his tackle advice and depth of knowlege in sportfishing
* Glenn for being a great motivator and inspiration in the sport
* Paul for arranging this trip. I am looking forward to trying out a Spiral rod for the first time, especially if its a JiggingMaster 400g, then I might be going home with it :-)

Tight Lines....

Ty
ty there was interest from a NC guy,
i hope that a few guys can make the trip up this way
we are still looking for a few more guys.
there should be a pretty good assortment of rods and reels on board

the jigging should be good,
they will let you know what depth the fish are at
and drop down to the right depth and jig

bring some hammered diamond jigs, and of course your other favorite jigs to use

might have a shot at a swoardfish..and some mahi
i think they caught a white marlin on a recent trip

a great time in the canyons overnight

the last time i spoke with kobey he said he will be going
minnow will be coming
a few guys on here are trying to get sick

Paul do you know if they plan on fishing the 30fathom line at all before reaching canyons or stoping there on way home? It may be good a option for BFT. If that is in the works then i may be interested. I'm liking the idea of jig only trip, but concerned with YFT bite.

we will do whatever is needed to catch some tunafish, and what ever else is around..we are hoping the yellow fin bite picks up. but the bluefins will be hard to pass up..
anything to get fish in the boat.

Paul,

Hope things change for you guys, it's not just the NE thats not seing any YFT this year, I can count one 1 hand how many YFT hit the dock in MHC this year just one of those years. I'm hoping the BFT fishing carries over to this winter we can use another decent season in NC. You guys always have swords and tiles and I'm sure Jeff will find you a few tuna. Ken

yeah maybe this blow will bring them in, its still early
doesnt look like they will get out till maybe thurs..

here is the last few days..it will get better

After catching 41 tuna on Wednesday night, Friday night was very, very slow. From Saturday night through the Tuesday/Wednesday 30-hour trip, we only had between 7 and 12 tuna per trip.

We lost as many fish as we caught on the past few trips, probably because they were hooked on jigs, which have a tendency to shake free more easily. We hope hurricane Hanna will move in some new water and fishing will improve to the level we expect for this time of year.

This wind just sucks. I think it's blowing on the whole coast. Maybe this NE wind is what we need. I'll be driving up to Cape May Monday, so I'll have a few days to do some running around, before I need to be on the boat. Ken
