The next bite on a jig.

    Jigging with a 50W

Over the weekend I saw a guy jigging with a 50W on an all roller guide rod. It hurt me just watching it.

I think this would be a better technique for tuna jigging if you ever find yourself in that position, over jigging the whole rod.

Although I would put on gloves

220 pound Blue Marlin on HAND LINE.
Me and a buddy caught a est. 300 lb Blue Marlin on an 80 LB hand line once. Was our first one and interesting to say the least.

Well almost caught anyhow. Got off on the 3rd time to the boat, we forgot the gaff that day.

    No gloves either.

what they are doing really isnt jigging but it looks like fun if you are careful.

When I was growing up as a kid on my grandfathers boat we would go to the canyons and chunk at night. He would take these cod looking jigs and basically drop one down on each side of the boat and then make me attach them to the outrigger clips so as we chunked the boat would jig for us on each side with the oceans movement. very effective and great memories for me

not exactly jigging but it put fish in the boat every trip

you could do it with a 50w if they hit it on the drop I guess, or the slow jigging technique, can't imagine you wouldn't get tired in a minute though

Oh that's an age old trick.

I mean think about it guys....

Guys have been putting tuna in the boat for YEARS with metal jigs. Way before we had parabolic rods, lightweight, high speed reels...etc.

Obviously you aren't going to be butterfly jigging with a 50W setup, but just straight diamond jigging is feasible. Yes it's easier with a lighter rod, but still do-able.

Oh good god, that's just not right

I've found stand diamond yo-yo style jigging to work better for tuners. Although i know guys who nail them on butterflies
