What a difference a day makes.
The Bluefins were no where to be found for us yesterday.
Today they were thick.
We had a crew of very experienced jig and pop guys from up North. This crew fished with us last year and put a hurtin on em. They did today too.
They started out hooking and landing a triple, two on Poppers and one on Jig. They decided to keep one of those three as our fish for the day.
We had pretty much non stop action all day, with a few other stuff mixed in, AJ's, albecores and one lone blackfin.
Matty had some pretty spectacular popping action, landing three fish on Poppers, some really cool bites. Nothing like watchin a 120-150 pound bluefin chase and eat a popper on a spinnin rod!
I think everybody got to pull on one today.
Our last fish of the day, was an epic 2.5 hour battle that turned out to be a fat 76" fish probably in the 250# range.
Battled primarily by Dave, this fish drug us all around the ocean and several anglers took a turn.
Final score was 7 for 12, 4 for 6 on poppers and 3 for 6 on jigs.
Great day with a great crew of anglers!
