    JIG RATINGS

Jigs come in sizes from very small 1/16oz to over 600G
most tuna jigs we use run 100-400g

picking the right jig usually involves size, color ect.
for the east coast we have been using 200-350g jigs for tuna.
most on the smaller side near 200g
we usually fishing in 130' of water jigging appox 80-100' where we mark fish.
some times we need to go to a larger jig because of current.
also in years past the longer rod was good, to be able to cast out, and work the jig better.

how is everyone choosing jig size?
    gram to match water depth
    size to fish
gram to match size to rod
    color

I know when we're jigging (and it's not enough) we need to be somewhat vertical as we always have at least 4 other baits in the water (3 for tuna, 1 down deep for Swords).

I try and go with the lightest jig we can use and still remain vertical or out of the lines of the other rods.

We've had some success putting a jig in the far rigger and letting the boat do the jigging for us.

All I carry with me is the 160gr and 200 gr, however we don't have that many tuna where we jig. So we target ajs and grouper and also have to mess with the pesty snapper. I also only carry 3 colors. Blue, green and pink.

Your missing out on some great colors. I personally wouldn't leave the dock without:

    1. a flat side jig in Orange
    2. a long jig in Glow.

I would highly encourage you to expand you mind

To answer the size question it is determined by three things:
    1. What size are the fist hitting
    2. Water depth (100g per 100ft)
    2. Rod rating as it needs to load.

I'll agree with Sea Draggin. I haven't done that much on tuna but orange/gold is the absolute bomb on AJ's, seabass and togs. I've had good luck with 16-18 oz all glows in the deep water for goldens, groupers and wreck fish. One of the new line I have been testing out has a glow strip on the belly and it lights up pretty well. I haven't fished it enough yet to give it a good comparison to the all glow jigs.
