    Jig opinions needed

Since it is the time of year to focus on things in the shop I decided to try something I have been thinking of for a while.

What I did was take a cod jig fresh out of a mold I have and stuck it in a 60 ton hydraulic press. Painted it, stuck some eyes on then a clear coat.

The original jig was cylindrical in shape with a taper at both ends. Could also be used as a trolling weight.

After that put on a Eastern Tackle assit hook and done. The finished jig ends up being 440g. What do you guys think?? Be honest. See any problems with the design?

The next bite on a jig.
Looks Damn good! Only one thing left to do, put it in the water and see what happens.

    Nice job.

there is nothing wrong with that bro!! looks really really good!! i like it alot...

you made just a plain cod jig out of lead and then just painted it!?!? seems pretty simple but you did a good job with the paint..

always wondered how they make the high end jap jigs..

are they just a foil wrap over the lead?!?

It'll produce fish, might not flutter as much as other flat jigs.
I think it will work on some of the deeper drops with current. Let us know how it turns out.

I squished it before I painted it to get it flat.

But yes, just used Krylon paint in white and fluorescent green, let it dry overnight, stuck on mirage eyes and about 4 coats of clear.

    Thumbs up

    nice work.

I would recomend putting a treble hook at the bottom, or a j/circle hook at the bottom instead of the assist hook on top.

    better hook up ratio

I have plenty like that in the un-squished model

I was just trying to duplicate a butterfly type jig but its worth a try, I'll have to make a few more to try both ways.
