    Jig N Chunk ??????

So when you guys are out there jiggin, you're also pitching chunks of sardines, anchovies and butterfish, i assume...

I was wondering if you toss out a cpl of lines at different depths in the water column with hooked baits, while you're jiggin...

Do you guys have any tips suggestions as to hooked bait, leader, how to rig them, ballons, weights, depths etc.

I'm currently fishing in depths close to 200ft in NJ for BFT (weather permitting).

    Thanks guys.

I have never chunked or chummed while jigging. Not sure if people do that up north for tuna or not. I haven't heard of it though. Find the fish on the sonar and then jig.

I like jiggin but the boss doesn't so we don't get to very often. Jiggin grouper in the islands we don't chunk. Tuna up north though we set chunk baits at different depths and jig at the same time...

On multiple trips i have jigged while we are chunking, the best bluefin trip that we had this year a 50 went screaming and after we hooked that fish up i dropped my jig right back to the bottom and hooked up into a nice 62" bluefin tuna. Almost all day while we chunking and have sardines down i am jigging. For the most part i like to have my jig be different then the baits that we have down there so the fish hit that rather than the baits . But chunking while jigging has worked for us

The next bite on a jig.
For a long time folks have hung jigs out of the riggers while chunking at night. The rocking of the boat does the slow jigging for the you. I have never done it, but would want whatever rod I was using in one of those t holders that keeps the rod horizontal.

the tuna jigging we have done off NJ we basically cruise over high spots looking for marks and drop on them, once they are gone we will move boat to another hump so we dont chunk at all for them. 100% jig

I like to chunk while I jig...jigging being the primary focus though. Drifting a butterflied bonito or head on the 50W has resulted in plenty of big AJs, grouper, snapper and sharks while jigging the reefs here in Costa Rica.
