jerry brown and jigging???

Does anyone use jerry brown hollowcore 40lb or 60lb hollow core for their spinning rods for jigging??? It is only about 10 more dollars than powerpro for a 300yd spool. Just wondering b/c I am getting ready to spool up a sustain 8000 and I was considering using the JB for it. Any feedback would be welcomed!!!

Best Catch: The next bite on a jig.
Pamet has actually been using 60 hollow JB for casting.

I had a 40 spooled with blue JB solid #80. I did catch several bluefin with it. But the top 200ft got broken off when another fish ran into the line while I was hooked up.

My preference is Daiwa Boat, so when I had to respool, I took the JB off and put boat braid on that 40 as well.

for spinning reels.
i have tuffline XP on the bottom / popping jigging reel.
and use the color coded OTI on the other jigging reels when fishing mid depth or when we are marking fish off the bottom.

the JB should work.

I have four spinning reels loaded JB 60# hollow-weave. For the reels I use for jigging, I have over-spliced 6" of colored hollow every 30' to mark depth.

The JB 60# this year that I've been testing has had an ABS (actual breaking strength) of >95 lbs. When you consider the fact that hollow-weave line doesn't need to be knotted since it can be spliced, you get a VERY strong line system.

Then add well-made wind-on leaders and you've got an exceptionally strong, flexible line system. Quick to change leaders (loop-to-loop) and no more knots that reduce your line's strength by 40%.

Pamet: How about putting up a post on how you splice in the Yellow "depth marking" JB line?

John, Good idea. It only takes about a half hour to depth mark 200'. I think I have the photos somewhere. PF

Fishingtime... With the 400/600g rods i would go for the new JM PE5 reel. It is in a class of its own. plenty of drag, smooth as and holds plenty of line!!
