Nice.![]()
Sorry, it should go now.
nice info...I guess I have been doing it right! I have been using the bimini to no-name (yucatan)!![]()
This article has been out for awhile. Somebody needs to show me how they can get a 12 turn bimini twist to hold in 50lb braid. I try it and it slips everytime.
Are you tying the bimmi to a leader or just looping it around something. If you tie a bimmi in braid and loop it around a screwdriver or something to test it, it will slip. If you tie the bimmi and then tie a no-name to a leader it shouldn't slip.
I don't buy into the whole 12 turn bimmi though, it might work while testing at home but a 20 turn is better for real world fishing. I belive it has better shock resistance.
we use anywhere from 15 to 20 turns, had no slippage, how are you finishing off the knot capt? a couple of half hitches like you would do for mono will slip on light braid,i tie a couple of hitches then 4 or 5 twists like a clinch knot to finish it off, if your really worried about it slipping can always add a drop of crazy glue ,did that for years on the first run of early braids that came out.
I've only been using one half hitch on the 12 turn bimini followed by a 4 turn "uni" to finish it off. (I think its like a Uni).
My 20 turn bimini's hold this way, but not a 12 turn. I'll try the double half hitch and some glue.
Thanks,
John
