Cassidy some of us here actually love those big donkeys, they are tackle testers and will beat your a**. Especially when they are over 100 pounds in successive drops. I still firmly believe in the second and third picture you have a world record Almaco jack without a doubt

Don't get me wrong dude...I love the big AJs, they turn fishing into fighting...and due to muscle spasms and fatigue, have rendered a few of our clients incapable of fishing for a while afterwards...

You've got an open invite to fish with me btw G-Man. You sent me the link to your jigging article a few months back over on the SWS forum...my crew and I have gone through it a few times each...switching to the shock leader has def put more fish in the boat for us. If you're in Southern CR hit me up. We're on blue-water reefs on banks that nobody hits...big donkeys gauranteed!

    How big are you?
They look like 90-100 pounders before they eat their breakfast.
I know I want NOTHING to do with them other than watching them whip everyone else's butt. Beautiful fish worthy of respect. A sportfisherman's dreamfish. Appreciate you sharing your pics. Keep it up please.

    Almacos

I am with Gman, they certainly look like Almacos to me and definitly world record material.

The only true way to tell is count the gill rakers, Almaco have between 22 and 26 wheras Ambers have between 12 - 14.

Great catch no matter what they are.

    Well done!

Does anyone know what the actual World Records are? I've googled it a few times and have come up with mixed reports.

I guess I should also ask what the difference is to the IFGA between Atlantic and Pacific amberjack and Almacos...this is all new stuff to me.
