Anyone use it yet, or buy it?
Anyone use it yet, or buy it?
i guess if i needed a Hoo reel i woud give it a look..seems nice, with the fast retrive. but its not really on my "to buy" list.I just dont do enough Hoo fishing
I have never seen one in person but from what I understand the reel generates 20lbs at strike with 27 max. Which wouldnt be that bad except all its new competitors such as Alutecnos and accurate make reels that are just as light and compact with a higher drag. I passed and went with the Boss 665 2 speed which is light, durable and tops out at 35#'s of drag
It looks like it might make an excellent jigging reel. 20 lbs. at strike is good enough for me for jigging tuna. The capacity on it (if using 80# hollow braid) will be excellent.
I have heard that is puts out 26 at strike, and low 30's on the top end.
guys i just left the Avet factory with another armload of thier reels...Hoo-X's included...
This reel is really going to come into it's own on many levels...first off...deep water jig fisherman are going to fall in love with the retrieve ratio's and the stern drags...
If you are a popper fisherman for big things like tunas this reel can cast a popper a half mile and has the speed to make that lure fly across the water just like a flying fish and the strength to put the brakes on a triple digit yellowfin et al...
I'm filling my hoo-x's with 100lb Berkly Braid...solid not hollow...giddy up...
