The next bite on a jig.
It was cobia carnage!!!! And Patrick and Milt just called me and said they went for 3 hours today and got 9 more between 40 and 70lbs.

I just walked in, still have some reef trash to clean and get settled, but I have some world class photos. Also some cobia video on bucktail jigs like you have never seen before, including the cobia that thought he was a marlin.

I will let Jim write the big report, as I as yaking my brains out most of the day. It was a real struggle bottom fishing with rough seas and a 4kt current, but the other guys scraped together a great mixed bag of tilefish, sea bass, and two gaffers while I spent most of my time dry heaving, falling down, and generally being useless. Luckily I felt a little better when we stopped by to look for cobia on the way into Hatteras Inlet. We landed 8, 7 keepers, with the biggest being my 70 pounder (second paper fish this year!) All the fish came on bucktails tipped with a small piece of squid from about a mile off the beach. We saw many many more fish, including one monster that dwarfed mine, but dove instead of eating.

Thanks again for the invite Jim! I am sorry I wasn't more help. My head is still spinning a bit today, but those cobia will be memories that will last a lifetime. I can't wait to see the video of the one that decided to put on an arial show!
