help with jigging out of Morehead

    Hey,
My Uncle and cousins are in town for Christmas and I wanted to take them offshore for their first time. I'm probably going to head over to the eastside for some kings/albies bc its some guaranteed pullage for them. I also want to do some jigging, but I haven't had much success. Either the GPS is not GPS'ing properly or the fish weren't biting well or just didn't know how to bottom fish have all been the culprits! Anyone have a couple spots on the eastside or not too terribly far on the west side of the shoals? AJ's, grouper, or anything fun to catch will work. They live all over (penn, bama, and wisc) and it is rare to have them all together, let alone all go fishing! If anyone can help us not waste time trying a bunch of unproductive spots, I would appreciate it and repay the favor anyway I can! If not...no biggie...its always just fun to be out on the water and I'm sure we'll have fun searching!!

    Merry Christmas!!
    Mitch

If your going to be on the East Side and you want some action head to the Atlas Tanker, I've been over there this week a couple time fishing BFT, the tanker had good water so I'm sure you'll find what your looking for. On the west side the 210, 240 or the AR 305 should have fish. warmer water pushed in as well as the Kings. Most of the AJ'S are offshore in the stream, a ton on the Big Rock my buddy came in from a commercial trip with a few AJ'S well over 100# just huge fish. Hope you have a good trip, Ken

Thanks Ken! We didn't have much luck jigging at the atlas a few weeks ago but got as many kings and albies as you'd want to reel in! Maybe they just weren't biting the jig that day. Had really good marks though! I may try to talk them into trying the stream a bit after we hit up the atlas for a little bit. I'd love to pull on a few big AJ's. Any decent action in the stream trolling? Still some wahoo's around I guess?

    thanks again,
    Mitch
