I saw a video on here about 3 weeks ago that had a guy in Australia modifying these huge poppers. I have looked and looked and can't find the tread it was in. Does anyone remember that tread?
He was modifying the lures from trebles to big singles.

I think I posted those links in Gmans casting thread that is stickied to the top. I will say however that I have tried their methods and prefer a simpler style with treble on the belly and single hook on the rear. I think the poppers swim better.
I will check that thread out. More than anything I want to check out the lure size. I am kicking around the idea of "having to have" a popping rod. (not that I am yet happy with my jigging rod.)
most of those videos are shot in Australia where 100% of the popper fish being GT's are released. This is why they like large singles or barbless trebles. Honestly I believe poppers work better with treble hooks although I have caught Marlin on poppers with singles. Stickbaits and swimbaits work fine with either

I am debating getting a few big poppers for tarpon fishing. The next 6 weeks will be wide open in our inlets for the big girls.
The only problem is, a big popper would make it hard to stay buttoned when the do their head shake. I was actually thinking a head rigged large (16/0) circle would be the way to go. So far, I have been using the big Zara Spooks and Chug Bugs.
Do yall have any experience chasing poons with those large lures?
BTW thanks for guiding me to that link. I was going crazy.
