Got a Whitey on a jig from OC,md 7 27 08

With Kil Song onboard the Reel Buster a week ago we were inspired to catch some Tunas jigging. Sat the bite was off at the bones but we saw Loads of Dolphins that were next to the boat in numbers for a while.
Sunday was to turn out different while jigging at the bone I said guys this doesn't feel like a Tuna as I was reeling in.I then saw a Bill 80' out Shait a White My first and my boats first after seeing a few in the past 5 years. On a 200 gram Long jig.It took longer to find the camera than the fight. He had no tags and thanks to Crew Van,Jim Hensley and Rattletrap Phil I got my first whitey and on a JIG.I'm getting in deep now I gotta have jigging gear. Van got a Mahi on his jig and Jim got a squid which went out on a floater got another.A conservative 74" fork to Lower jaw.I'm not a tournament guy but next week I think that fish would be in contention.I was luckier than good...

Awesome, congrats on the catch- you certainly don't hear of many bill fish caught on the metal! That grin says it all!

Now thats luck a white on a jig, you don't hear of that often. I thought it was odd when I caught one two years ago on a stretch 25. Congrats!

Pretty cool. On our last jigging trip I saw a big school of mahi jumping like something was chasing them. I wonder what it was...

Wow! that is the coolest. I like that you went through with the "required" drink shot! Great thing about jigs... you never know and you are not done fishing till they are in the boat! Great pictures too.
